Standing before a gyropallet, packed with Roederer Estate Brut, is winemaker Dr. Michel Salgues. After fifteen years of making arguably the best sparkling wine in California, he will be retiring in July, 2003, and going home to France. He may return to teaching at the University of Montpellier.
